I am an ecosystem ecologist interested in how carbon and other elements interact and change as they move through aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.

My interests include coupled elemental cycling, terrestrial-aquatic linkages, modeling of future ecosystem response to climate change, surface and subsurface hydrology, the philosophy of science, and economic and environmental sustainability. I have conducted research in Arctic, boreal, and temperate biomes in both pristine and heavily disturbed systems. I am interested in working across biomes to contribute to a general understanding of the controls on elemental cycling in our changing world.
